Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions from clients exploring what trauma recovery through occupational therapy looks like.

About the Work:

  • Traditional therapy focuses on emotional processing. At Resurrected Living, occupational therapy bridges that insight into action. Together, we work on regulating your body, restructuring your routines, and engaging in activities that support your healing and growth.

  • Not at all. Many clients come after seasons of stress, change, or emotional exhaustion. Our focus is helping you reconnect with meaning, stability, and fulfillment in daily life, no matter what your story looks like.

  • Absolutely. Clients can work with me alongside their therapist. While therapy helps you process, our work focuses on applying what you’ve learned so your healing becomes part of everyday life.

Practical Details:

  • Yes. Virtual sessions are available in New Jersey, Florida and Texas.

  • Virtual sessions are $170 per hour. A free 20-minute discovery call is available for new clients to explore if this is the right fit.

  • Resurrected Living is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. However, we are an out-of-network provider and can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement through your insurance.

Before Your First Appointment:

  • Your first session is an occupational therapy-based evaluation where we explore your goals, current challenges, and daily rhythms. From there, we create a plan to help you regulate, rebuild structure, and take action toward your goals.

  • Currently, we are serving individual therapy sessions only. This allows us to maintain a focused, client-centered space where you can process, explore, and take action toward your goals without distraction.

  • Sessions are typically held once a week or every other week, depending on your needs and goals. Meeting regularly provides the consistency and momentum needed for meaningful progress.

More prolonged periods of time between sessions would not help you get the most out of our time together, as consistent rhythm plays a vital role in achieving lasting results.

  • Yes, but only what’s meaningful. You’ll receive simple, personalized tasks to practice new habits, routines, or regulation tools between sessions.

  • Trauma can result from any experience that overwhelms your sense of safety, control, or stability. It may stem from physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or spiritual harm. What defines trauma isn’t the event itself, but the impact it has on your body and mind afterward.

  • Healing has no timeline. Many people begin their recovery years after their trauma. Your brain and body have a powerful capacity to rebuild safety and balance, no matter how much time has passed. The goal is not to erase what happened but to rediscover confidence and peace in your daily life.

  • Occupational therapy helps bridge the gap between emotional healing and everyday life. We focus on how trauma affects your body, habits, and routines and create sensory-based strategies to help you regulate, rebuild structure, and re-engage with meaningful activities.

  • It’s possible for symptoms or memories to surface during sessions, especially as your body begins to feel safe again. If this happens, your occupational therapist will guide you through grounding and regulation tools to help you return to comfort. Over time, these moments become opportunities to strengthen confidence in handling triggers beyond sessions.

  • You’ll begin to notice more balance, self-trust, and confidence in navigating daily life. Together, we’ll review your goals and reflect on your growth to ensure you have the tools to continue living fully beyond our sessions.
